Timber Manufactured Products - Traineeship

Learn about manufacturing timber products including roof trusses, pre-nail wall frames, engineered timber products and timber componentry for furniture and other timber based products.

 

This traineeship can lead to a role as a:

  1. Estimator and Detailer
  2. Frame & Truss Designer
  3. Site Supervisor
  4. Component Manufacturer
  5. Jigsetter
  6. Leading Hand
  7. Furniture Production

 

Timber Merchandising - Traineeship

Suitable for people already working in the timber retail/sales (or those wanting to enter this field), you will be trained in all areas of handling, storage, racking, grading and sales of timber and timber products.

 

This traineeship can lead to a role as:

  1. Internal Sales
  2. Dispatch Coordinator
  3. Customer Service Manager
  4. Sales Representative
  5. Yard Manager
  6. Leading Hand

 

Floor Covering & Finishing - Apprenticeship

The earning capacity of this trade once qualified is exceptional due to being a skills shortage area.  Lasting three and a half years (can be earlier if you work and study hard as the qualification is competency based), an apprentice will specialize in either Carpet & Vinyl, Timber & Cork, Vinyl or Carpet laying.  This apprenticeship can be completed full time or as a School Based Apprenticeship.

Warehousing & Distribution - Traineeship

Focusing on warehousing duties including stock location, maintenance and replenishment, receipting, packaging, order checking, picking and dispatch.

 

This traineeship can lead to a role as a:

  1. Warehousing Manager
  2. Logistics Manager
  3. Dispatch Coordinator

 

Wood Machining – Apprenticeship

Furnishing

Focus on areas including the use of furniture sector hand and power tools, assembling furniture components, hand made timber joinery and setup, operate and maintain basic static machines.  You will be trained to setup, operate and maintain complex machinery used for sawing, drilling, joinery, planing, finishing routing and shaping.

 

Sawmilling & Processing

Work in an environment using machines such as planers, moulders and saws to cut, plane, shape and sand wood to specifications.  Gain knowledge about selecting and fitting knives, cutter heads on drums, how to sharpen and grind cutters and blades, balance cutter heads and program and control CAD and CNC machines.

 

This apprenticeship can lead to a role as a:

  1. Wood Machinist
  2. Leading Hand
  3. Manufacturing Operator
  4. Saw Doctor
  5. Sawmill Owner

 

Office (Business) Administration - Traineeship

Giving you the skills needed to operate within a business environment, this traineeship is for you if your role involves administration, reception, secretarial or basic payroll duties.

 

This traineeship can lead to a role as a:

  1. Receptionist
  2. Financial Officer
  3. Personal Assistant
  4. Payroll Clerk

 

Forest Growing Management - Traineeship

Through this traineeship you will be trained to prepare landsite for a forest, establish it, manage its growth and protection and manage the nurseries use for the production of trees for the forest.

 

Harvesting - Traineeship

This traineeship includes felling and de-limbing, ‘snigging’, off-road transporting of the cut logs to a loading point, sorting and loading the logs onto a transport vehicle, and hauling the logs to the mill or primary processing plant.

 

Wood Panel Products - Traineeship

Duties of this traineeship include the manufacturing of ply, veneer and constituted wood fibre board as well as finishing, sorting and grading the materials and products.
