TABMA 2010 GALA DINNER
The TABMA Annual Dinner will again be held at Luna Park on Sydney’s spectacular Harbour. This year’s dinner will be co-hosted by Timber Development Association, Forest Products Association and Forest & Wood Products Association and will be held on Friday 29th October 2010. Entertainment will include the hugely entertaining Vince Sorreent and the jazz band The Buzz will be back again to keep you on your feet dancing.

CHAIN OF CUSTODY BREAKFAST SEMINAR
In response to numerous requests from members, TABMA held a breakfast seminar on Chain of Custody at Rydges Parramatta 8th April 2010. With over 70 members in attendance, presentations were made by Michael Spencer - Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Robin Mellon - Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA), Simon Dorries -Engineered Wood Products Association (EWPA) and then Kayt Watts – Australian Forestry Standard (AFS).The breakfast was very informative with the AFS and FSC representatives talking about their own certification systems. GBCA speaking about their 5 star rating system and how certification will play a part in the assessment EWPA talking about the actual certification and audit process.

After months of field judging TABMA’s Annual Awards were presented at Sydney's Luna Park. The night was a huge success with industry acknowledging the efforts of those TABMA members that are excelling with their businesses. There was entertainment, fine food & wine for all who attended.

RISK, INTEREST RATES & THE ECONOMY SEMINAR
In conjunction with Gow-Gates Insurance Brokers and the ANZ bank, TABMA held a Risk & Economic Outlook breakfast seminar at Rydges Parramatta on Tuesday 26 May 2009. With over 40 people in attendance, industry experts covered topics including workers compensation, risk management strategies, business interruption planning and real life case studies. ANZ bank representatives spoke about interest rates and the short to medium term economic outlook.
TIMBER PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE INFORMATION SESSION
TABMA held an information seminar on Tuesday 24 February, 2009 at the Courtyard Marriot Hotel Parramatta. The guest speaker was Mr Charlie Herbert, an industry consultant, who presented topics including timber grading, timber storage, timber durability, treated timber/hazard levels, timber applications, hardwood softwood differences and timber engineered products. Over 30 people attended all reporting the information presented as very useful and highly informative.
TABMA GALA DINNER
The board of TABMA (NSW) decided to make the TABMA Annual Awards Dinner a bi-annual event with a Gala dinner to be held every other year. On Friday 7th November 2008 TABMA hosted its first Gala dinner and the location was Lunar Park on the spectacular Sydney Harbour. The guest speaker was Mr Justin Smirk, a senior economist from Westpac Bank, who gave a very interesting perspective about the current financial status of the world. Over 250 people were in attendance enjoying fine food, wine and friendship with entertainment by the jazz band Buzz.
TREATED TIMBER INFORMATION SEMINAR - THE WHY & HOW
TABMA held two information seminars on Tuesday 28 October, 2008 at the Rydges Hotel Parramatta. The guest speaker was Mr Steven Koch from Arch Wood Protection who presented information toy dispel the misconceptions present in the industry about timber treatment. Almost 60 people were in attendance and there was lively discussion after each session from attendees. TABMA will be holding more information seminars during 2009.
CHAIN OF RESPONSIBILITY SEMINAR
TABMA held an information seminar on Thursday 21 August, 2008 at the Rydges Hotel Parramatta. Guest speakers included Mr Ian Ross from Australian Logistics Council and Nick Nolan from the Road Transport Authority. Seminar participants were brought up to date with pending changes to Chain of Responsibility legislation in New South Wales especially in relation to fatigue.
